Ode to a Bard

a poem by Gummadapu Narasimha Rao

At dawn placid, I haunt ardent pretty forest
Relaxing from friction and tension of unrest,
Wild beast roaring chatters, as terrific shrills
Craving to conversant, that of coherent yells,
Dream to detain there devoted divine monk
Meditating God alone at foggy rivulet bank,
Angel Flora sanctions zenith accountability
Gaining genial goal that great responsibility.

At morn lucid sunny I jog on meadow plain
Winning wealth of health the perpetual gain,
Peacock dance gazes that peerless elegance
Soothing sober scene of serene significance,
Ponder to act as a cute consecrate naturalist
Studying the secrets just sagacious scientist,
Angel Nature, opposes derogate desirability
Concentrating upon mine connate capability.

At noon candid I cherish countryside peace
Willing to remain there at the verdant place,
Skylarks scan alluring salubrious apt sights
Gratifying petty pretty heart by the delights,
Yearn akin yore lore versatile rustic teacher
Imparting erudition just, Miltonic preacher,
Angel Minerva, reminds mine zenith ability
Confessing of congenial copious credibility.

At even lured I stroll on the sandy seashore
Witnessing silvery bay tides I never before,
Kingfishers’ dainty diving beholds majestic
Finding, frail fortitude feats, fairly fantastic,
Surmise I sustain spring spirited sportsman
Sailing on sapphire sea, as festal fisherman,
Angel Marine mutters my morrow morality
Scintillating span to stimulate, elite nobility.

At dusk splendid I march into mango grove
Pondering to sing ditties that spring groove,
Nightingale nods then cuts jaunty jubilation
Plunging me her dulcet tone in intoxication,
Still, cheer to chant maxims immortal ward
Inspiring all, just as great immemorial bard,
Angel Muse hails my yen the majestic deity
Tuning muses, for harmony and tranquillity.
