I wonder how this day will be

a poem by Maryse Saldanha

I open my eyes to a new day
And look for the sun to greet
It stays hidden behind the clouds
I wonder how this day would feel

The rains begin to pour
Dark clouds gather and grow
I look through them hoping to see
I wonder how this day would be

I begin my run thru the day
My actions deliberately slow
There’s much work piled up to do
I wonder how this day would go

My journey has now begun
Faces pass by in the window
Each shows a different emotion
I wonder how their day would go

I reach my workplace, familiar faces I see
None I acknowledge and move on to see
I begin my work, I pick up the keys,
I wonder how this day will be

The day seems to pile on
The clouds gather weight
I look to the horizon, but hope I don’t see
I know not how this day will be

Through this day I must run, no matter what be
Friends I meet, they try to be sweet,
They care for me, I hope their day be sweet
I wonder how this day will be.
