Jaded

a poem by Samrajni Ganguly

She has so much to wish, so much to long (for),
Look at me, imposed upon by such a helpless life;
In her life, there’s fun, there’s music, there’s a song-
But look at me standing on the thin edge of a knife.

She has so much to conquer, so much to decide,
But look at me, I know my destiny…
She can turn around and look at her darker side-
But here I am, I dwell in so much of agony.

She has so much anxiety to take, so far to go…
But look at me, leading a life like a dreadful nightmare,
She’s escorted by a dream in her eyes, I know!
But me- no destination- left with a world around just to stare.

She has zeal in her eyes, craving for more-
But for me, such a monotonous life, as dull as it can be;
She’s a wave who’s sure to break at a shore,
But look here, even a blank canvas appears so colorful to me.

She has so many challenges to take, so much to ensure,
But look here, life itself is a challenge to me…
She has time to nurture a brain that’s still so immature;
But, I am suffocating. Break my fetters and set me free…
