Lizard

a poem by Vidhya Jayarama Raja

Watching the wandering insects
Go dizzy
Discoing around the light
Snapping them for a snack
Crawling to clasp
A bug for breakfast
Crunching up a cockroach
Munching up a mantis
Staying clear of the stinging ones
Feeding no family
Entertaining no neighbour
His chuckle an omen
His breakfast buffet before him
A gecko by the light lay.
