Truth

a poem by Vidhya Jayarama Raja

Is it the truth?
No, I’m a victim
Truth carpets none
Truth never twists
Truth tested against terror
Stricken, summons no support
Trust trampled down
Tattered tongue, tells no tales
Truth targeted by a tornado
Stripped, stunned, stands upright
Truth in the silent tremors
Of the heart
Steals from none
No witness but Time
Truth’s alter asks no questions
Seeks no answers
Steals no shows
Sells no soul
Truth triumphs tomorrow
Today the victim bleeds.
