Footprints

a poem by Vikash

I have journeyed
Through callous terrains,
Wandered through gardens
Of foreboding pleasures.
I have consumed
Elixirs of power,
Potions of love
And poisons of passion.

From the depths of the oceans
Of calamity
To the vast skies
Of hope
I have indulged myself,
Quenched my thirst
By the fountain
Of desire.

Though I have went astray
And lost my purpose
In the jungles of hatred
Though the roads of remembrance
Became detours
And the self neglect
Became an oasis.
I have survived!

Through the soliloquy
Of alienation
And desolate acts
Of attempted redemption,
I have journeyed far
And yet I always
Found you…
By my side.

Beside me,
Another set of footprints,
Through the joyous journeys.
Behind me,
A single set of foot prints…
When the troubled tide
Held its mighty embrace
With rabid intentions.

I ponder-
As the darkness cloaks this valley,
I awaken,
and enlightenment
Transcends with
Steady, calculated movements
Thank you Shri Krsna
For carrying me.
