Animals

a poem by Shilpa Shinde

Have we ever looked up close?
At their eyes
Of the mellow beings
Letting out uncultured cries
Have we ever tried to think?
What they mean,
Ever tried to wonder
Thru what all they have been.

No we don’t, we are far too busy,
Trying to get their output, ourselves being lousy.

Its true.
They are difficult, at times unpredictable,
Its true they can be fierce or uncontrollable.

Its true,
They can drive you nuts, when they let out non-stop shouts,
Its true, they can send spinal shivers, with their snarling mouths.

But look at them in a different light…
And you will be amazed, at all the sweet sights.

Animals… they are fascinating, they are sweet,
They can be real fun, after a couple of meets.

And when you know them thru and they know you care,
They will risk their life, anything for you they will dare

They are sooo lovable, though at times they are naughty,
They guard you always like their own personal property.

They are there to listen to all your says,
They remain your friends till the last of their days.

When you are down, terribly disturbed,
They always become your best comforts.

‘Stop behaving like animals’, that’s what teachers at school said,
But look around and analyze yourself, I feel its better to be called an ANIMAL instead!
