Mad Cow Disease

a poem by Uday Ghosal

Dear, Bovine world
You left the woods
accompanied the man
probably enamoured
by his lovely looks.

He had no
such illusion.

He squeezed you
as sugar-cane
for centuries.

You had no
complaints.
Unhesitatingly you
devoured poison
gladdened
by his
hypocritic love.

Now you have
no path open.
The forest doors
are closed.
Come follow me,
meekly,
with your
assiduous love.
I will consign
you to flames.
