Freedom to be

a poem by Sagar Kumar

In the wake of a free nation,
I shall rise to another day,
Of solitary and complete solitude,
Not knowing which way is my bay.

Years roll on,
Days turn to night and again,
The same rhythm has caught my senses,
Without which there is no feel or pain.

It’s me and only me,
Sitting under a Banyan tree,
Awaiting an unknown liberty,
That would free me forever, from the existing me.

I await a stranger,
Yet not so strange to me,
To lead me through the pangs of youth hood,
Much to my satisfaction and glee.

In the wake of a free nation,
I shall rise again and again, waiting,
The freedom of thought and action,
That the day might, to me, bring.
