And Finally, The Night Life

a poem by Sivakami Velliangiri

Behind all the flashes let us think
of families where girls earn
for their marriage, sacrificing
the most precious. What, oh what
did the Vietnamese leave
except their progeny and a lot of
diseases? Young, adolescent girls
flaunt babies, these children with pearly
pearly teeth carry infants, offering
big courtesies. Do they smile or weep?
