The Epiphany

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

Yes, knew as soon as I awoke
that I had found it I had bent the bars,
the restrictions of my life and was free.
Joseph Conrad had written about it
and now I had found the pearl of wisdom.
Looked for a pen to write down the magic,
but couldn’t find one fast enough
cursed by own disorder
and when I found a pen it didn’t work,
the epiphany disappeared.
I was left looking at a white sheet of paper with blue lines
on that looked ominously like prison bars.
