Some unknown voices call me

a poem by Saima Afreen

Impishly the star-lit sky I behold
Trying to explore the arcane glint
Of the stars
That seeps in the crevices
Of my thoughts,
While the penumbra of stars
Get scattered on the vitreous surface of cosmos
I stand still
As cool breeze touches me
Caressing my raven hair;
Something melts in my reverie
That inveigles me
In mellifluous whispers
That grow in voices
Inviting me to come with them
I look around but find only stars
Beholding me silently
And the breeze touching me gently
The unknown voices keep calling me
Spell-bound I hear these voices
That make me dream of unseen flowers, lands and brooks
Reminding me of my own dreams
Scattered as stars
Enchanted,
I follow the unknown voices calling me
With stars above my head
And with the earth beneath my feet,
That reflects some ethereal beams
In whose mystic glimmer
My figure melts
As I keep walking…
