Anthem

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

Why do you burden the forest
Allowing all sundry to blare sounds in its peaceful chest
All the lush green trees considered best in the forest
Do weep now for this prolonged restless test

All through the day the forest is quite awake
Enjoying the nature’s beauty in starring sunshine without a break
Do you wish her to have her heart to beat so fast in quick?
By simply giving an entry to all violent intruders readied to battle for a heavy stake

Birds started leaving the trees unable to digest this anarchy
Allowing the forest to drip down to feel a burial ground’s silence
No tunes can be heard as a feast to years from tomorrow it will be tipsy
What are we to gain by this mindless acts in preference?

No jumping of monkeys from one branch to the other
It will next be at most just a haven for cruel snakes and animals in hither and thither
No doves, no peacocks to magnify the luster of the atmosphere
Now all living beings started bowing down their heads to live in utmost fear

Allow all the golden moments of the forest be preserved forever
And frame it as memories once for all to make them available for future genre

Let all the intruders as the advocates of terrorism
Leave the shore and share the nation’s progress in optimism
Let all the guns fall silent in tandem
Let all the living organism sing this song as national anthem
