Switch to country night-mode

a poem by Matthew Adukanil

The sun bows out beyond the hills
Children hasten home from school
Bird clouds touch down on perching trees
Church bells toll the close of day.
Shops down shutters on last customers
Homeward bound herds’ shadows lengthen
‘Sleepy’trees fold and join their palm-like leaves
In prayerful homage to nature’s lord.

Village buses ply their last trip of day
Noise levels drop and silence descends
Nature’s mighty heart shifts to slumber mode
Darkness casts her thick veil far and wide.

Birds huddle and drag their last notes
All life slows, pauses and changes to night mode
The drip of first wet drops of evening dew
Heralds the start of night and her sway.
