Starlit Sky

a poem by Partha Pratim Majumder

Look only!.up at the enormous ceiling
And at bright beads so delicate!
Book only the seats, to enjoy, to relish
No hurry! No late

The sky has a big mouth
Countless fire flies fit the bill
They burn themselves
No sorrow! No guilt

Centuries old pyres cool in the air
Through Galileo’s telescope route
The earth growing hot and filthy
To follow in the pursuit!

Once the earth turns out to be
A member of the fire folk
The universe would laugh to say,
“Oh, Gosh! What a joke!!!”
