Ode to Nature

a poem by Nandita Pai

It is our Mother Nature,
Who gives us all, shelter,
She gives us food, clothing,
And above all precious water.
You protected us, Mother,
Under your big banyan tree.
When the rain was pouring,
One day at half past three.
You quenched our thirst, Mother,
With the water from your pond.
Which seemed so delicious,
When the sun was scorching hot.
You shelter those orphans,
Who roam on the streets.
Your trees are their homes,
And the leaves make their sheets.
You shelter the poor,
And also animals stray.
Your door is always open,
To all who have no place to stay.
You give home to the homeless,
And food to the starving.
You have always done what you could,
To satisfy the beings.
Mother Nature,
We owe you a lot,
You have given us everything,
All that we have got.
This is an Ode,
To our dear Mother Nature.
The only protector,
To each and every creature.
