Separation

a poem by Vikash

SCREAM
at me.
BEAT
your fists
upon my chest.
HAMMER me
till I bleed.

SHOUT
out loud.
LOUDER…
Tell me
you HATE me,
NOW.
COME ON,
say something.
Your silence
is killing me.

Don’t lie there
with closed eyes.
OPEN them.
LOOK at me.

HOLD me.

FORGIVE me.

PLEASe
PLEase…
Please…

RAMPANT tears
roll down my face.
As I become a witness,
as I bear witness
to the final ceremony…

The pyre blazes
as the painful acknowledgement
wraps her glacial arms around me,
and the pain burrows deeper
into my acidic mind
weaving a web
that forbids rational thought.
