The Wheel of Wants

a poem by Mabel Annie Chacko

Life, O life,
How dramatic are you!
But at the same time,
How traumatic are you!

For a moment of joy,
One needs to cry for long.
For a moment of peace,
One has to undergo pain for long.

For freedom,
One has to be captivated for long.
For a brighter tomorrow,
One ought to sacrifice for long.

For victory,
One has to encounter failure for long,
For surviving,
One has to be threatened for long.

To put an end to this cycle,
One has to experience for long.
And to experience them,
One has to live for long.
