Words that drip relief

a poem by Vikash

Harmony and chaos
engage in an intricate waltz
as your lips softly mutter
these words:
that bathe me with relief.

“I love you”
rolls off your tongue
with subtleness
and caresses me,
soothing my thoughts,

Engaging lips
form a pulsating rhythm
expelling these words
and I embrace the moment
of surrendered enmity

A diamond embedded in a ring
I grip and loose
in my pocket
as frantic fingers try to gather
this symbol (of my entrapment)
before the mood is lost.

That was yesterday’s yesterday.
Today,
today you extended
those words that drip relief
to someone else.
