Grandson Akku

a poem by Ramachandran Nair R

Blessed I am with a grandson,
Great I became as a grandfather;
I have a Babe to learn from,
As Lord Christ advised mankind.

Akku he is fondly called by all,
While I fondly call him Kalla Krishnan,
As his pranks remind me of Lord Krishna,
As a child behaved in Hindu Mythology.

He calls me affectionately as Pa!
Teaching me to have peace always;
I love to play with him all the while,
And I see in him truth, love and non-violence.

So nice I feel playing elephant with him,
Being on four legs on his command,
His climbing on me gently placing his feet on my foot,
And pushing himself on my back like a Mahout.

With him on my back I get the bliss,
As the Lord Krishna himself on my back;
I love moving around with him on back,
In and around the house where we live.

Often he makes me stand on a spot,
To enable him get down,
And feed the elephant,
With plantains and coconut.

Oh! My grandson Akku,
You are great for your grandpa;
Give the love you give me,
To the mankind as a whole,
Making all shed their prides,
To leave space for peace the invaluable,
Needed badly by mankind as a whole.
