You’ll Regret

a poem by Mabel Annie Chacko

O babe,
Don’t come into this world,
For,
Love and peace,
Is not what you’ll find,
Amongst the entire mankind.

You’d be confused,
At times misused
For your innocence;
And then the entire mankind,
To you will seem,
Man-unkind.

Once you are here,
You’ll realise
That you are in a world
Of malady and which is ruled by Czars.
And then you’ll regret saying-
“Why was I not born on Mars?”
