Spirit

a poem by Soorina Arora

An aimless spirit,
Beyond heat, thirst and fatigue,

Stopped in the arid desert,
Upon seeing a familiar sight of greenery,

The vision for a moment faltered,
Then shunned life’s symbols unperturbed,

It thought, better to wander past this visage,
Than to believe in another mirage.
