Elderly Support

a poem by Dattatraya H Saitawdekar

The wilful behaviour of uncontrolled birds
Trees should not feel and get disturbed.

Trees should grow high in the sky;
Get on with the birds and enjoy their joy.
Should be ebullient and swing at will
But firmly they should stand in the soil.
So with the wind, trees should sail;
To protect the nests, they must not fail.

Left out in the cold, with fall of leaves
Trees should keep living their lonely lives
Existence of trees is must, for a reason;
For the birds, alienated during change of season,
Support of the trees, birds always get
Branches, even dried, are rests for the nests.
