My Cousin

a poem by Nandita Pai

My cousin who works in Grindlays Bank,
Is the one I envy the most.
The amount of salary she gets per month,
Is something of which she can boast.
She reaches her office at half past eight,
And never gets scolded if she is late.
She goes to her office on a Kinetic,
At the end of the day she is still energetic.
She never gets tired as I do,
As she works in an air conditioned room.
She is a person who enjoys life,
And also happened to be a perfect wife.
So I wish I were my cousin,
Working in Grindlays Bank,
With no worries about my studies,
And no fear about my rank.
