To Kargil Warrior

a poem by Lakshminarayana K

O, Kargil warrior you who hail
With skill cut off each militant’s tail,
You teach the wolves to take to their heels
And drive forth on your chariot wheels.
Fight out the devils, fierce and brave
Meet they their goal in the neighbouring grave,
Your shadow never frighten you
Mail the tricolour spirit anew
Thousands of guns along the line
On each hill our flag along should shine,
Aim your shells day and night
Prove our glorious birth and might,
Amidst the hills grief not you feel
For your heart’s as strong as steel.
