Thoughts In The Night

a poem by Jan Oskar Hansen

There are many religions and
Many sects vying for our mind,
To enslave us with their brand of
Truth and righteousness and to
Stop us thinking independently.
God is not specific but universal,
It’s up to each of us to find grace,
Not in churches or in temples but
On our journey through life.
Let the voice of reason, the hum
Of compassion and the song of
Love be our guiding stars.

Based on Swapna Raghu’s excellent poem “Prayers”.
