The Celestial Counterpart

a poem by Rama

Among the sparkling angels of the night sky
I was drawn towards her,
The one with the dense halo of silence.
Surprised at my fascination
I pondered over her very familiar countenance.
Was she twinkling? Nay, rather fighting a
Relentless battle against the smothering divinity
And withdrawing with wounds-
A sight more gory than battlefield,
Despite the heavenly cheers of her divine friends.
“Oh! How I wish she had the nerve!” sigh the majority
While I, spellbound
By the power of her silence,
Await the enormity of her unspoken words.
Later…
I ransacked the pages of my memory to spot her
And when I almost gave up in despair,
She dawned on me
As I stood
In front of the mirror.
