One, the Winner…

a poem by Shah Pravinchandra Kasturchand

The sun had just stopped
Little short of shining;
Clouds in silvery drops,
Stars yet to attack sky.

The sea beneath in roaring race;
The waters thought of no recess;
As it had done from morn to end,
Waves after waves invading sand.

Now the pitch dark chambers,
Of the falling night opened;
Behind this wanting glitter
Long shadows had them hidden.

And a star, two, three, thousand
lakh, million, billion, trillion,
Stormed the sky from all around
Sent the earth sleeping sound.

And a trickle of one red ray
From east in morning of day
Took sky by reddening smile,
Made victory of stars futile.
