Here & Now

a poem by Mahendra

Forever
Was a word
I couldn’t deal with-
It said too much
And yet so nebulous-
So I sliced
Infinity
Into thin bits
Manageable-
I could cope with
Thisness,
But not with
That-

Transformation
Was slow,
Imperceptible-
A movement
Into this solitude,
Into the inner
Unlimited
Spaces of light-
Where Infinity
Resides,
Silently stitching
Yesterdays
And Tomorrows
Into Today’s fabric
Seamlessly-

How could there not
Be a Forever?
When there is
No past or future-
Only a now,
A here
In me,
Infinite?
