A Poet plays cricket

a poem by Shah Pravinchandra Kasturchand

Poets write poems; so can be said without least bother.
Poets Minus, write poems, can appreciate poet brother.
Poets Plus, write poems, read others critique on them.
Poets Double Plus, read their critique, also reply them.
Poets Triple Plus, don’t read, or critique others’ poem.

Cricketers must concentrate on playing of only cricket.
But when not playing, may watch others play with bat.
May also shout out if other player plays a wrong shot.
May clap with joy if the other player plays great shot.
When out of game, may wear a commentator’s coat.

But I am a great fool to write about poet and cricket.
A poem uses a soft word and cricket uses a long bat.
I know soft words can panic; hard balls too can panic.
I know even soft word can hurt one hard if sarcastic.
I know hard ball hits as if from behind a sudden kick.

But then proper playing ball makes a cricketer great.
So correctly using word makes man a greater poet.
