We Hail Thee!

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

When
Eyes start winking permanently
And shoulders shrink in disability
And hands begin to tremble continuously
And legs start to fall to faltering zones

My mind gets instant shocks
And the heart fails to beat properly
The soul then start severing its relations with all the other organs
Why did my humane identity actually take a back step?
Where should I go to correct myself?

To the scripture readings
Or chant sacred and secret mantras
Or pray GOD, THE ALMIGHTY to extricate me from this ditch

Nothing of that start saves you or helps you and your tribe
Be righteous in your acts and deeds
And the position will surely return back to normalcy

An unknown but a guiding voice from the sky above
Advised me accordingly let me start obliging it in letters and spirit
