Savage

a poem by Anup Chandran V

Mindless missiles hurled on the weak,
innocence lies scattered in tatter,
reason hides in the closet of the strong,
in the name of civilisation, struts the savage.

Thriving on the charred remains,
of malnourished, famished despair,
cowardice searches to justify the wrong,
in the name of justice, struts the savage.

An obedient dog with a tucked tail besides,
to nibble at the tidbits with vain pride,
self proclaimed vanguards verily throng,
in the name of order, struts the savage.

Rivers of blood fails to satiate,
the thirst forever to dominate,
agony screams akin to a merry song,
in the name of truth, struts the savage.
