Your smile no longer blesses me
When my tongue slips.
You used to say “Sure, maybe later…”
Instead, now you look violated, invaded
And the blades severe through me
Leaving a pool of remorse at my feet.
I can no longer hold you closely
And conceptualise… what could have been,
What should have been.
Instead, an intangible distance ranges between us,
A quick “Hello, how are you.”
And off we go…
Far, far away from the other.
Into our own worlds,
Alone, without the other.
No confidence, Less talk.
More distance,
Less civility.
More uneasiness
Less of me… less of you.
