The Tiger’s Retreat

a poem by Shekher Mudgal

In the mighty forest that day,
Animals and Insects sang with gay,
What was it what’s so special?
The tigress and Lioness were sitting for facial!,

Oh my god!,I don’t believe my eyes!,
There was a whole market and a shop of pies!,
Bulbs and Balloons hung everywhere,
Then came ahead a huge bear!,

“Welcome everybody to tiger’s retreat”, he said,
I couldn’t believe my eyes and ears!, I thought I was asleep in bed,
No I wasn’t really there,
After announcing went away the bear,

Then bands and drums sounded aloud,
Marching ahead was groups of scouts,
But they were not men!, they were tigers,
They weren’t like men they earned their living not being beggars,

Oh you should’ve seen the courage, might, valour and confidence,
Men had learned marching from them? or was it a coincidence?
