Sunset

a poem by Nandita Pai

It was 6:30 in the evening,
And the sun was going into hiding.
To be more specific,
It was sunset.
And in the market place I saw the vendors,
Pack their fruit baskets.
The birds flew back to their nest,
After a long day to take some rest.
The children returned home after play,
Of hide and seek, running and catching and modelling of clay.
Orangish black was the colour of the sky,
In the dim light the mountains looked sky high.
I too retired to my room,
As all around there was silence.
Deciding to write a poem,
Describing my experience.
