River must flow

a poem by Hitesh Chandrakant Sheth Dr

Mighty river singing and dancing on the way,
   Mother of men, birds, and trees.
Flushing by the sun’s crimson rays,
   While going to meet darling sea.
On the way she met ‘HITESH’,*
   Claiming to be well-wisher of men.
He shouted at her, ‘For people’s interest,
   I want to build mighty dam.’
Nymph shedding tears of rivulets quipped,
   ‘Are not trees and birds my children?’
‘To take dust of saint’s holy feet,
   And watch tribal’s dance, I left mountain.’
‘My brother earthquake would not allow me to slow,
   For he firmly believes “River must flow”.’

* HITESH means well-wisher
