Ode to Green field

a poem by Gummadapu Narasimha Rao

I am at foot to city to attend the patent duty
Stare at the mount side, the stunning beauty,
Gleeful green-filed full of tall stalked spikes
As infinite stars of summer sky sight strikes,
Myriad, tiny birds fly jet speed, loud sound
Stand sudden on the spikes just in a second.

Birds pluck panicle grains with sharp beaks
Eyes alerted blinking sacred scanning looks,
Field man batters drums, creates great panic
Spread terrible vibrations that of supersonic,
Terrified birds fly up just like volcano erupt
As mine stones spread of the dynamite blast.

Air craft sound, heard on my head instantly
Infinite flying tiny birds behold incessantly,
Sharp curves witness, an exuberant posture
Artistic beauty in sky exhibit elated picture,
Birds’ convoy view of omega twilight sight
Somersaults gaze as that delighted air flight.

Kernels’ dance so majestic to gentle breeze
Cosy ripen field crop displays mellow gaze,
The sight beholds endless tides of steep sea
Hilarious hillside scene scans gaiety glance,
Whole crop glazes, stretch of yellow golden
Akin, the splendid glitters of candid maiden.

Attend I office at utmost and acute devotion
Gain rewards astute, for work determination,
Mental solace off owing routine toil rotation
Soul strives for serene my village habitation,
Mind craves to roam in the green vegetation
Invites sagacious sight to eschew frustration.

I return to sublime birth place after fortnight
O! no kernels, no placid birds, no cute sights,
Stray cattle herd grazing, that harvested field
Hungry birds hide in bushes, sigh gazes mild,
Adjacent sprouting field assures, sable Fauna
Eternal greenery extends of enchanting Flora.
