A quilt of autumn leaves

a poem by Paramesh C R

Fluttering autumn leaves
Million dangling musical
Swept off their branches
By gusty southern wind

To the sound of dancing steps
My feet wade through
Tottering the leaf filled yard
Where a huge maple stands
A solitary leafless tree

The wind flies open
Window to bed room
Leaves tossed on bed
With many a silent hue
Weave a quilt of leaves

The glow of the dead
Every hue full naked
Is a gift of the dead leaves
A gift of life we never knew
