Alvida! Shalom!
The last words
You delivered to me,
On the shoal of the sea.
I wept for long that evening,
“Shall we again someday meet?”
My feelings were riven,
My heart, slashed;
But you went away.
And I stood alone,
Where the cliffs and rip-tides, smashed.
Memories of those days,
Will be enshrined within me always.
Your prancing moments-
Sometimes at the arete,
Sometimes on the prairie,
And sometimes, by the rivulets.
Today, only I meet you in dreams.
And those lovely sights
Only to descry, in my mind’s screens.
On the sands of my heart,
I peer at your foot-prints,
And remember with moist eyes
The tunes of love,
That softly emerged,
From our hearts’ strings.
Months gone and years passed,
But I am still waiting for thee.
With eyes cast on the path,
And with firm hope in my heart,
I am looking for a ruddy glow in the sky
When you’ll sail back to me.
