Water

a poem by Chetan Bhatia

Every time she takes a breath,
Every time I stop;
She looks straight into my eyes,
And my pulse rate takes a drop.

In all my prayers,
She is the only one I wish;
Without her,
I am just, an out of water, fish.

My dreams turn wet,
When her love rains on me;
Rivers from my heart create waves,
When they end up in her sea.

Neither sulfur bath nor any Ganges dip,
Rid me of my ache;
Its only when she bath me with her kisses,
And let me take a dip in her inner lake.

Quench my thirst of ages,
By the sweet melody of her voice;
Just one sip of my sweetheart,
And I have forgotten the god and his much-hyped up paradise.

Without her I’m just another island,
In the middle of all blue;
Scenery and beauty all around,
But not at all worth a view.
