The Broken Heart

a poem by Jagganathan V

Two years have passed, I am firm in my love towards you,
Whether you love me as much, don’t have any clue;
I try hard to bottle up things, it somehow ebbs out,
Yet will you accept me, I really do doubt;

Love is a genuine and great feeling, which is not enforceable,
Hence I wait for reciprocation, I may look unreasonable.
I may loose everything, anything for you,
It is a calculated gamble, strike with cue.

Desperate and frustrated, it is all a one man show,
To get the fruits of love, I take pains to sow;
Those seeds may become trees or be blown off by a strong force,
Yet my love continues, never shall I turn hoarse.

Thousands of laurels, thunderous applause all along my long way,
What good it holds, I am like the sun without a ray;
Without you on my side, everything is but a worthless bauble,
My broken and shattered image, I try hard to cobble.
