Lost Love

a poem by Rithu V Kumar

When the high waves make’th merry with wine;
The lone tide sobers “Oh she’ll never be mine.”
As night falls, the sky is brimmed with stars;
The tide sees none but the sole love of his.
The barren sands feast on the stubborn moon;
To the blue tide, her sight, a great boon.
The day brings much adieu, the waves threat to smack;
Light tears the scabbard, it knew what it lacked.
It scampers over the scabrous scaffold;
And hoped it ain’t the largest ostrich.
How doth the obscure sands buy life- hard bought;
It knew not how but thought and thought.
‘Your beauty blinds my sense of view;
Your beauty binds my quest for you!’.
‘Unmoved I was when ospreys pecked the waters,
Then how move ’cause of creaky forlorns!’
When day fades to distant lands;
The tide lives back to dreams with music bands.
The day’ll come when the moon descends from burn;
To take love worthier than the sun.
If love doth requite, the tide won’t faint;
Fodder for starved whoth love ain’t taint.
Curse ‘is love if self doth dance;
Once curator of that magic glance.
Time and tide hath left me pauper;
But love for thee shall always prosper.
Though love is lost and labour lost;
Seeke’th not another ’cause love ain’t taint.
