A Woman Unknown

a poem by Mukul Lukhey

The path of life is too tedious,
for a mortal to tread alone,
a few are fortunate though to have,
someone they could call their own.

I, too, long for a woman unknown,
to stand besides me in life’s highs and lows,
one who brightens my dull life,
like the star in the horizon glows.

Is to be solitary forever,
Destined to be my fate?
When would you come,
my woman unknown,
to end my eternal wait?
