On an evening, under the azure sky

a poem by Purushothama Rao R

Watching all the delight and despair
During the day time chores in entirety
The tired and weary sun started
Sinking deeper into the dead depths of the sea

All the birds after a hectic duty tour in the day
Started fleeing back speedily to their calm nests
The moon began to plant its presence on the silver screen
Along with the entourage counting to thousands of sizzling stars

The tall trees after a lot of exercises in exhaling unhealthy gases
Started waving breathable air to allow all the living beings to feel happy
The shadow spanned underneath which helped many to save from scorching screams
Of the hot summer sun thanked the trees for their immense co operation in the deeds

I wait for the arrival or at least a call from my beloved
Which undoubtedly keeps me on my usual joyous notes
She comes in this cool and calm evening with a fragrance spreading on the altar
That mesmerizes me in all the tones and enthuses my body, mind, heart and soul
