Dare not to compare

a poem by Miryam Masih Nahar

“Nothing can compare with you Lord Jesus,
Dearly Beloved we sing.
And so you visit their temples to respect their beliefs
Speak the name of Krishna,
Rama, Sita and Mohammed
With the name of the Lord Jesus.
And together with Buddha, Vishnu and the Guru.

“Lord Jesus who can compare with you?”

Dare not to compare, dear Beloved.

You take off your shoes and “do enter in”.
“This is holy ground.”
And dear “Holy people unto the Lord”,
Whose holy ground?…

You bow before the idols your Bible calls demons,
Your Bible which tells you
“Break down their images…”
“Destroy their altars…”
“Cut down their groves.”
And dearly Beloved, you take pictures.

So you eat the food of the demons.
You know there is only one God.
You know these idols are nothing in the world.
So you ask no questions and you eat up.

But dearly beloved,
When they cry to you from the pit of Satan,
Reach up to you with arms outstretched,
Wail and scream from eternal torment,
Eternal judgement,
To you up there in eternal rest,
Up there in the Heavens so high,
“Why, Why didn’t you tell us!!… Why!!”

Dearly Beloved, too late then.

Will you dare not to compare, and when?

It’s Satan’s old trick you know.
The big deceit.
Compare and you’ll get the counterfeit.
Let Satan dare to compare
His Brahma, Vishnu, and Mahesh,
With the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

And you dear Beloved, you just dare not.
Dare not.

And dearly Beloved, you may want to throw stones
Break my body’s bones.
You can throw the stones you know
They’ll turn to flesh on the way,
It’s God’s promise.

Free to choose between Life and Death.
Dearly Beloved,
Careful that your contrast
Is not to compare in one breath.

Dearly Beloved, will you dare,
Will you care,
And can you really, really declare,

“With you Lord Jesus, nothing can ever compare.”
