Woman as Wife

a poem by Shah Pravinchandra Kasturchand

She suddenly asked me, “do you love me?”
I said, “we have been married, you see,”
She went to kitchen, prepared the tea,
Brought the cup and said, “you love me?”

Then I asked her if she had loved me,
“You reply ,I asked first,” said she.
I said yes no and fussed in yes no.
She heartily laughed and said, “I know.”

What a woman! What stuff she is made?
She has asked me and me not replied;
She makes me tea, and heartily laughs,
What a fool I am, looked like a dwarf.

Taller in height a husband may be,
Shorter in the size a woman can be;
But judge not height, judge not size,
Woman always taller as wife in life.
