Sonnet : A Woman’s Greatness

a poem by John Celes Dr.

There is one soul, who carries you in womb,
For two-eighty days ‘fore you see the world!
She rears you lovingly until her tomb
Gives sleep profound that is all dark and cold!

There is one soul, who slogs for your children;
And helps them stand upon their own strong legs!
She sacrifices all her life but then,
For love and kindness of kith/kin, she begs!

There is one soul, who shares her fate with you,
From nuptial night to every dawn there-aft!
In times of joy and grief and illness too;
In life, she turns to be your Homo-graft!

The Eve in all these forms deserves great praise;
Let Adam never on her, his hand raise!

Fondly dedicated to my
Most loving, beloved wife,
