An ordinary woman

a poem by Sandhya Shankar

I am just an ordinary woman
Living a life of her own

You may look at me every day
Yet you might not see who I really am

You may talk to me every day
Yet you might not know what I actually mean

You may hear my voice every day
Yet you might not recognize my cry for self

You may shake my hand every day
Yet you might not feel the strength in my arms

You might feel how stubborn I am
Yet you might not realize how much I can withstand

You may witness my work every day
Yet you might not notice the things I accomplish

You may want my help every day
Yet you might never say that aloud to the world

You may know how precious I am
Yet you might not accept that truth in your life

I am just an ordinary woman
Who is as special as special can be
