Rakhi

a poem by Jayati

On rakhi-day,
Sub-continent sisters tie a thread
Around the brothers hand
Multicoloured
Wraps-
Their, wrists
Shine in neon rays.

The Indian ritual
Reminder, love is real
Brothers and sisters,
Though live-far away
At a long distance.
Affection pays

Sisters
Love and
Prayers
For protection
Strong ties binds.
Throughout it is keeps.
Never be forgotten in lifetimes.
