Torture Victim’s Day

a poem by Ramachandran Nair R

Torture victims’ day celebrations to-day!
Oh! I am destined to celebrate the day,
Rolling in mental and physical tortures aplenty,
Totally depriving me the life I longed for long,
Under the rule of my own fellow countrymen,
Recovering the mother land from a colonial rule,
Endangering the lives of millions in torture of the alien.

Victim of torture I am, for the victorious cashing on my plight,
Intentionally and unintentionally victimizing me for long,
Caring less the tortures I succumbed and preventing tortures still ahead;
Trivial the tortures looked to the torturers and sympathizers around,
Instilling in me a faith to die rather than facing tortures any more,
Minimizing the agony of a life not meant for bearing tortures,
Sanctified by celebrations of all kinds by a few cash rich around.

Days and days should pass off fast without any such celebrations,
As I can least afford to think of mental and physical tortures of any kind,
Yoking me to a life cart loaded with yokes destined to a torture-full world.
